Rio was living in an unsafe environment and was struck by a car, breaking his leg, which had to be removed.
In August 2016, the 2-year-old Rio, a beautiful black dwarf rabbit, was living outside. Tragically, because he was left without protection, he got out onto the road and was struck by a passing vehicle. North Mountain Animal Sanctuary was contacted and Rio’s was brought here. Following his rescue, Rio underwent surgery to amputate his shattered hind leg. An incredibly resilient bunny, Rio has literally bounced back and his status as a ‘tripod’ has not slowed him at all.
