William-John was surrendered to the sanctuary in early 2013 by his caretaker who realized that she could not properly care for William-John.

William-John (arguably the coolest goat name ever!) came from a mysterious background, unknown to his caretaker.  In early 2013, his caretaker realized that she was unable to provide the necessities of life and a safe environment for William-John.  North Mountain Animal Sanctuary was contacted and he was brought here.  Anxious at first, William-John quickly became friends with Rocky the pygmy goat and has learned to overcome his anxiety. With some trepidation, he will sometimes come to visitors, but other times he will just stay in his shed and peek out the door at them. William-John enjoys time outside his enclosure, venturing out into the fenced common area under our supervision.
